Physicians' Hearing Aid Center began as an extension of Otolaryngology Associates of Arlington (OAA). OAA was founded in 1967 by Dr. Lawrence Thomas and Dr. James Harrington, followed by the additions of Dr. Mark Brown, and Dr. Stuart Thomas. Dr. Lawrence Thomas and Dr. Harrington have retired. In June 2006, Dr. Mark Brown and Dr. Stuart Thomas joined with Drs. William Briggs, Dana Gibbs, and John Loudermilk and created Central Park Ear Nose and Throat (CPENT). All of the physicians are board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology. An Otolaryngologist Head and Neck Surgeon is a Physician specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the ears, nose, throat and related structures.
An Audiologist is trained in the evaluation, rehabilitation and prevention of hearing and balance disorders. Evaluation includes various testing modalities to investigate the cause and severity of these disorders. Rehabilitation involves the use of amplification, usually in the form of hearing aids, while prevention primarily involves thorough patient teaching.
Dr. Holly Blocker Arentz has completed her doctorate in Audiology. They have the latest equipment available for the testing and evaluation of hearing and balance disorders in children and adults. They also are fully trained and highly experienced in the selection and fitting of a broad range of hearing aids, from top of the line digital devices to digital devices that can work with any financial restriction. This allows them to fit patients with the most appropriate hearing aid for their particular situation.
Our goal at Physicians' Hearing Aid Center and Central Park Ear Nose and Throat is to provide an integrated environment of medical and audiological care for patients with hearing or balance disorders. By having Physicians and Audiologists in the same building, we can take a team approach to the care of our patients. Nothing is more important to us than the welfare and satisfaction of our patients.
